The town meeting to discuss the Tyrone Roberts proposal is still scheduled for 4 April, which is great. I really believe that it's important for everyone on the island to get together to share their feelings, whether they want to keep the Girls Bank as is or develop it. If this just goes away quietly after having caused such an uproar, I'm afraid that there will remain many unresolved issues. We're going to have future attempts at developing the area, whether it's another run at Pigeon Island or Whale Point or Cabbage Cay or Man Island or whatever ... and I really feel that an open meeting will be an important means by which the pro- and anti-forces can draw a line in the sand as to how much development either side will support.
Here's a chance for the island to rally together to discuss their differences in a known forum, outside of the heated politics that are bound to erupt now that we're in the middle of election season.
