When fire raged through a long-time Harbour Island deep-fry snack establishment

recently, Briland's all-volunteer fire team and local community rallied to save the building

7 November 2005 - Harbour Island, Bahamas)  A faulty chicken fire sparked a fire at Joy Cleare-Higgs' beloved Sea View Take-Away restaurant, causing a temporary shutdown of electric facilities at the Harbour Island Government Dock.  Briland's all-volunteer fire team, led by captains Jefferson Johnson and Doug Lorey, responded immediately to the scene, but low water pressure issues on Bay Street frustrated their efforts to quickly douse the fire.
