Just returned from a week on Eleuthera. Damage no where as severe as the media is playing it. Mostly shingles and roof problems. Island is brown from salt water contamination but the new buds are already on their way! Water is not a problem. Electricity is up for most of the island and BATELCO is back in business with the astronomical rates. Water damage to downtown Governoprs but everyone is back in business to include both banks. The roads are very good considering - the exception is nort of the GHB airport to JC....pretty broken up and one way traffic in places. Past JC going north a breeze. Rainbow Bay got hit and several homes need shinles and roog work. Rainbow Inn is on the mend but many power lines down throughout the sub-division. There are a sozen or more insurance adjusters on the island settling claims. If you have not filed a claim within 28 days of storm, you may be out of luck. Suggest filing something ASAP with your insurance provider. Home Depot in Miami is geared up to ship supplies to Eleuthera via YII or G&G shipping. Duty is being waived, but be certain your receipts are dated AFTER Floyd. If anyone has specific questions, will try to answer. Steve.
